WATTer Skills at the seminar “Adaptation to Climate Change – Efficient Water Use in Macaronésia”

ADENE – Portuguese Energy Agency, marked the National Water Day, on October 1st, 2018, with an intervention on the WATTer Skills project, at the Seminar organized by the Regional Agency for Energy and Environment of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (AREAM), which took place in Funchal, Portugal, referring to “Adaptation to Climate Change – Efficient Use of Water in Macaronésia”, within the scope of the ADAPTaRES Project, co-financed by the Interreg MAC Program.

The seminar program included the presentation of regional strategies for the efficient use of water, in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, in the Canary Islands and in the Cape Verde archipelago. Several national and international entities participated, as well as ADENE, whose intervention was allusive to WATTer Skills, providing an extensive discussion of objectives and preliminary results with stakeholders throughout 2018 and 2019.

ADENE presented the WATTer Skills map needed for the two new qualification profiles: Water Efficiency Technician (WET) and Water Efficiency Expert (WEE), aiming to contribute to the creation of a common national and European framework, for the training, professional qualification and European mobility of Water Efficiency Experts and Technicians in buildings, further creating new professions and jobs in an area of ​​great potential and need in Portugal and Europe.
